About Nathan

Kia ora!

Background

Based in Wellington, I’m a practising solicitor at one of New Zealand’s premier commercial law firms. I have always had a love of sport and exercise. While initially playing football and cricket at school, in 2009 I had the privilege of being coached by Olympic long distance coach, the late Graham Tattersall, who ignited my passion for running!

Running experience

Under the coaching of Graham Tattersall, I first started racing in high school over the middle distances of 800m and 1500m. During this time, I represented the NZ secondary schools cross country team in Australia. After high school, I balanced law school and running, with a new focus on the longer distances on the road. Since running my first full marathon in 2020, I have run 8 full marathons in both NZ and overseas (including twice winning the Taupō full marathon).

Personal bests:
Marathon: 2h 23min
Half marathon: 1h 6min
10km: 30min 17sec
5km: 14min 20sec
3km: 8min 25sec
1500m: 3min 54sec
800m: 1min 54sec

Coaching experience

Over the last two years, I have had the honour of coaching athletes over the 5km, 10km, half marathon and marathon distances, including for the Auckland half marathon, Wellington half marathon, Hutt half marathon and Auckland full marathon.
